"The thing is that in order for this to be a reality, the will need to get Anderson Varajeo back on the court"

As remote of a possibility as it may be there is a small chance that the Cavaliers may be able to slip into the playoffs this year. Now consider the fact there are a number of different things that would need to happen and with the current losing streak may seem even more far-fetched. As little as a week ago, they were only one game out of the final playoff spot.

The thing is that in order for this to be a reality, the will need to get Anderson Varajeo back on the court and playing as he was before he broke his wrist. That could take a few more weeks, and the possibility and window may be closed by the. If that is the case, then you should be looking for roster changes as the team will look to trade the expiring contracts of Ryan Hollins and Antawn Jamison in order to get more draft picks for or younger players in return. There are different options and scenarios that will need to be looked and considered by management to determine what is best for the team in the long and short term.

No matter what direction the tem ends up going in, they realize that they need to do what they can to show the fans that they are planning to do well and have the future in mind. They are trying to rebuild especially after the debacle last season, but do not be surprised if they are contending again in the next year or two.

"Let us not forget that Kyrie was not the only representative in the Rising Stars Challenge. "

Even though he is only 19 and he only played a handful of games in his one college season, Kyrie Irving continues to amaze. As a member of team Chuck for the NBA Rising Stars game that was played on Friday night. He was 8 of 8 from the three-point line and as able to take home the MVP award for the game.

He continues to improve and demonstrate how well he can do in the clutch with the performances he has each night. In two of the last three games leading up to the all-star break, he was able to score the winning points in the final seconds to secure wins. Even though he will not be participating in the all-star game he has shown that he should be there soon and that he will continue to demonstrate just how much he will impact basketball in Cleveland and show how they will soon be able to forget that other guy who left them hanging with his decision.

Let us not forget that Kyrie was not the only representative in the Rising Stars Challenge. His teammate and fellow rookie Tristan Thompson was also there playing respectfully for team Shaq. Though he did not take home the MVP award, he did show that the future for basketball in Cleveland is not nearly as dim as it could have been and that there is much to look forward to in the short future.

Watch as the two continue to grow and get better. You can expect to see many great things from them as they form the core of the team.

Whether you are a Cavs fan or not, you have got to be disappointed in the selection of players that will be participating in the NBA All Star Game. There are of course the usual suspects, or those that get to the game almost every year, in many cases only because of name recognition, but then there are those that deserve to be there, but they do not get to be. It is not because they are not doing well or having great years, it is because they play in the wrong city, or the team that they play for is not having a great amount of success. As it is with any type of all star game, it is all about popularity and notoriety, however, the thing that makes a difference in the NBA and the picking of the reserves is the fact that other coaches and players decide not the fans.

This is why it is so disheartening to see that both Kyrie Irving and Anderson Varajeo, will not get to play in the game. They have both been having great years and are both worthy of the honor, but since they play for Cleveland, and are overshadowed by others they are overlooked. However, at least Irving and fellow first round pick Tristan Thompson will get to participate in the rookie challenge. Hopefully, they will get paired together, but it may be interesting to see if they are playing against one another. Regardless, there is some recognition with hopefully more accolades to come for both.

"Regardless of the youth and the overall lack of superstars, the Cavs are showing that they are very potent and will compete every night."

Even though they are young and untested the current batch of Cavaliers are off to a much better start than many had anticipated. With their blend of youthful energy and a few older veterans, there is a nice balance between the two which helps to create great teamwork on the court and a good blend of decisiveness off of it.

When you consider the fact that young Kyrie Irving had 4 consecutive games of 20 or more points as a rookie, you get excited about the potential of the young point guard. He is leading them as he should and doing all of the right things even though he is only 19 and only played 11 college games total. He is showing maturity beyond his years and all are hoping he is able to keep it up all the way through this long NBA season. Tristan Thompson is also doing better than expected as he is mentored by Antawn Jamison in the nuances of the pro game. Both of these players are very young and very raw but have a lot of upside.

Regardless of the youth and the overall lack of superstars, the Cavs are showing that they are very potent and will compete every night. Do not expect long losing streaks like last season, But do expect to be able to enjoy the game and have fun watching as these players mature and get better hopefully leading them back to the playoffs in the very near future. They may not be LeBron James, but they are here.

With the late start to the NBA's basketball season, it is no wonder many Cavs fans are still looking for an opportunity to check out their team and make estimates for the year. Like every team in the league, the goal is to make it to the NBA Finals, but before they can do that, they will need to take their less-than-super star team to the net more times than not. Can it be done? Expectations are there.

What's Going On?

Without a superstar on the court, many fans are not expecting to see the Cavs in the playoffs this year, but there are expectations that the team will improve upon last year's record. The goal this year is to rebuild and to assess the roles of players. The team does have 20 players sitting on its training camp roster and that could be a good thing for the year and seasons beyond.

For the year, the Cavs are bringing back six returning players who have just one year of experience in the league. They will add two rookies to the lineup as well. This, plus the fact that the team only at 19 wins last year will really make coach Scott's year that much more difficult. Dan Gilbert is behind the team, which could prove to be a good thing when it comes to paying out for talent. However, there are good things going for the team. Kyrie Irving, the Number 1 pick and Tristan Thompson, the Number 4 pick, are both good acquisitions for the team.

What the season holds is dependent on how this team of would be new guys can come together on the court. Expectations may not be high, but Cavs fans are still focused on the wins.
